Fritz Kircher 

(first Violin)

 

born in 1970 in Klagenfurt.
                   
He studied in Vienna with Alfred Lösch, Ernst Kovacic and Klara Flieder as well as with Wolfram König and Wilhelm Melcher at the Musik Hochschule in Stuttgart from where he graduated with distinction.

 

He also had intensive chamber music coaching with members of the Melos Quartet.


He has taken part in countless competitions and master classes among others with Franz Samohyl, Zacher Bron, Igor Oistrach, Gerhard Kosten, and Sergei Kratchenko. Fritz Kircher has performed numerous solo concerts in Germany, France and Austria and world premiered Christoph Cech's violin concerto with the "die reihe" ensemble. As a member of the Ensemble Bell Arte Salzburg and the Wiener Akademie he has worked on period music instruments. He has recorded CDs with partners such as Susanne Ryden and Paul Plunkett. He plays on a violin by Camillus Camilli from 1742 and joined the quartet in 2002.

Martin Kocsis 

(second Violin)

 

born in 1967 in Oberpullendorf.

He studied violin at the Haydn Conservatory (Eisenstadt) with Werner Ehrenhofer and at the Vienna Musik Hochschule with Jusuv Karajew. He graduated with distinction and attended master classes with members of the Amadeus and Alban-Berg Quartets as well as with Erich Binder former concert master of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
    


He has toured widely with the Wiener Mozart Akademie and the Haydn Sinfonietta as well as being a regular member of the Con Anima Festival.

Gerswind Olthoff 

(Viola)

 

born in Ludwigsburg.
           

She began her viola studies in Berlin with Hans-Joachim Greiner of the Kreuzberg String Quartet. She then studied with Wolfram König in Trossingen, finally completing her studies with Christoph Schiller in the Basel Conservatory Switzerland. In the course of her studies she had chamber music coaching with Thomas Brandis (Concertmaster Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra)


    

Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartet), Hatto Beyerle (founding member Alban Berg Quartett) and Herman Voss (Melos Quartet).

As a member of the 'New Ton Ensemble Vienna' she has performed quartets by Kurtag, Penderecki and Ligeti. Ms Olthoff was loaned the 'Gustav Mahler Stradivari' for a concert in the Prag Philharmonic Hall and a Viola by Gasparo di Salo (1590) for a solo performance of Bloch's hebraic Suite with the Basel Symphony Orchestra. Her recording of the String Quartet music for the film 'Der Copy Shop' was nominated for an oscar in 2002.

Nikolai New 

(Cello)

 

born in 1964 in Reading (England).
 
He studied cello and chamber music with Zara Nelsova and the LaSalle quartet in Cincinnati USA. He was a member of the International Menuhin Academy in Gstaad Switzerland, where he attended master classes with David Geringas and Boris Pergamenschikow as well as  touring extensively with the Camerata Lysy Gstaad and Lord Yehudi Menuhin.
       

After completing his studies with Johannes Goritzki in Düsseldorf and the Amadeus Quartet in Cologne he joined the Haydn Quartet in 1991. He is much in demand as a free lance chamber musician.
